Since it's beginning in 1973, the mission of the National Foundation for Underprivileged Boys and Girls was to give aid, assistance, support, help, and protect the poor, needy, deprived, handicapped and underprivileged children around the world whose condition and circumstance are such as to endanger their own health, education, or welfare, and who need help in achieving their full potential as members of their community. The founders, Jack and Mary Smith, and Tony Bonaduce worked to provide school supplies to third world countries, helped to establish children's camps, and gave scholarships to children who would otherwise not be able to go to school.
Today, working under a new name, the Solace Foundation is continuing this noble mission. From the foundation that was laid over 30 years ago, we will be supporting and funding orphanages throughout the world and the United States that have core values the same as our foundation. We continue with educational scholarships for those children with greatest need. And we are expanding it's mission to children by providing aid, assistance, and mentoring to single parent families in crisis. Our volunteers will work with church communities to establish teaching and mentoring programs for single parents, and where necessary, to provide homes for single mothers and their children in crisis. These homes will provide support and an environment where the women will be able to stabilize their situations for themselves and their children.
Our vision is to extend this work to communities across the country with strong, viable volunteer efforts that will give support and strengthen children who are in crisis.
The Solace Foundation, Inc. through the volunteers and donors that join with us make a powerful impact in the lives of children.
