Mentoring

by Pastor Judy Kennedy

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men and women who will also be qualified to teach others. 2 Timothy 2:1-2

Our lives can have an enourmous impact on the lives of others by simply mentoring someone. Memorable mentors come in all shapes, sizes and sexes. They have varied skills, talents, gifts and time to give to a single parent and their children. There are many ways to be a mentor.

A mentor may be a woman who teaches a mom how to bake, organize her home, make and keep to a budget, how to shop wisely. They might need to teach and help develope parental skills. A mentor may be someone who is more spiritually mature and comes alongside to nurture through regular times of Bible study and prayer.

Men could teach boys how to fix things, fish, play a sport, use tools, set up a tent, build a campfire, etc. You might have a desire to help boys and young men grow in their spiritual life.

You might be someone who just wants to be a friend to a boy, girl or a single mom. Perhaps you are an older person or couple who does not have grandchildren nearby and you would like to adopt a grandchild or two or three.

A mentor is someone who teaches by example and from life experience. There are multitudes of ways in which to be a mentor.

Your love and life can make a huge difference in the lives of these children and families. Call us today, and start making a difference.
