Whenever you give to an organization that represents itself as a humanitarian organization, it is expected that the money received is used for those specific purposes.
Solace Foundation from it's beginning in 1973 has been a volunteer organization. The organization has always headquartered in office space donated to it, and has little overhead that does not have a direct benefit to its mission of providing aid and help to underprivileged children. The board of directors, volunteers and staff are people committed to the mission, purpose, and integrity of use of contributions. We are committed to the use of all (100%) funds for designated purposes. You can be assured that your entire gift will be directly used for support and aid of orphaned children. We do solicit your help in supporting the necessary office expenses, fund raising, and occassional staff required for special needs.IN-KIND Gifts that are given for designated purposes go 100% for the purpose intended. If the In-Kind Gift is given without a designated purpose, the item is sold for whatever can be gained, and proceeds are used for the General Fund.
Cash Gifts that are given into the General fund are treated with the following budget constraints and are board approved: 10% is used as a direct contribution to orphan work in third world nations (We have 3 orphan homes that we give to regularly). 15% goes to direct assistance to families in crisis. 30% goes to a capital account which is money set aside to build and maintain crisis homes for children and families (our primary mission). 15% goes to fund raising expenses such as newsletters and other media. And 30% goes for payroll and office support purposes. The general fund are gifts that are given without specific designation, and it's purpose is a vital one to the overall health of the foundation and it's ability to carry out it's mission.
