The Daily Chews were begun spring of 2000 by Kevin Haislip to simply encourage others with the Word of God. It is, as the name and subject line suggests, something additional to think on, to meditate on from the Bible. It is additional food for the spirit of man. Often, we include a devotional with the Bible passage. Above all, God is to be glorified and exalted, and that is our only call. We take great precautions against making political statements, and do not advertise, or seek contributions.
To give you a brief idea of who I am, obviously I am a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified. His death on the cross secured my salvation, as the necessary sacrifice for my sin, as I could not have paid that price myself in any fashion. And His resurrection gives me the hope that Jesus was not some mere mortal, but indeed the Son of God, who has the power over life and death, and through His promise, I now have the evidence of faith that I too will be resurrected. And this is all through faith in Him. So, since I have that assurance of my salvation, it gives me complete freedom to live by faith today in His promises, given through His Word. We believe in the God of the Bible, Great and Glorious, Almighty, and everlasting. He is the creator and sustainer of all that is, and He is without beginning or end. He is a Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We seek to proclaim the majesty and love of God, through the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, who bore our sins on the cross of Calvary.
These are sent out daily except Sunday, and currently go out to several different forums. The Daily Chews were begun by sending them out to Christian businessmen. Today, they reach out over several networks, including Senators, Congressmen, Businessmen, Pastors and teachers, adoption and homeschool networks, and go out internationally to many missionaries.
My wife and I are parents of 15 children, 13 of whom are adopted, and many of them with special needs (born drug and alcohol addicted, handicapped, retardation, etc.) Currently, I am president of the Solace Foundation, an organization that partners with church communities to help build homes and care for single women and their children in crisis. And for a living, to support our family, I am a commercial photographer, and publisher of books on rare and valuable collections.
Our relationship with Bible Gateway is merely as a resource for us to read these passages in their context, and get a fuller understanding of what God is telling us.
